Audi Confirms R8 spyder with 4.2 V8 powerplant

Audi has confirmed a new version of the R8 spyder. This aluminum bodied soft top possesses much carbon composite materials similar to the V10 version instead of the V10 though it has a 316KW (460 hp) V8.

With the V8, the R8 spyder accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 299km/h. The power is supplied to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro system which is linked up to the R tronic sequential manual gearbox… phew.

The Audi group has been a subsidiary of the VW group since 1965 and over that time the German pairing have ensured many millions of motorists many many pleasant miles. However don’t be mistaken as VW has now changed their image from being the manufacturers of ‘people’s cars’ to being the manufacturer of ‘the car’. Audi has always been seen as a more upmarket car and although VW makes good cars, today Audi’s are made brilliantly.

Audi’s of the past have never inspired much in the way of exterior design beauty or originality, however with the new range of Audi’s I do believe that from an exterior styling point of view, they are top of their class. The new TT, S3, RS4 and A4’s do have good road presence indeed.

Audi A4 1.8T

The Audi A4, a compact saloon built with a steel and concrete mix, a real bomb proof cabin made to endure the test of time, In fact Audi’s are put together so well, it actually becomes boring. While other cars wake up with a dose of flu occasionally, this antibiotic injected concrete pillar never seems to get so much as a sniffle. This does detract from the character a little but will keep your blood pressure low.
