Aprilia are best known for their championship winning 125cc racers. However with their 999.6cc 65° V-4 cylinder, 4-stroke, DOHC motor strapped into their super compact racing frame, Aprilia are starting to threaten the Japanese manufacturers in the SBK championship. When the RSV4 was released everyone was unsure as to how successful it would be, however as Max Biaggi and Shinya Nakano have proved, The RSV4 is a formidable race bike and the RSV4 factory is essentially a racing bike with headlights. In fact the RSV4 is the closest bike you can buy that fits SBK specifications. Why is this you say? Well specifically because of the racing Ohlin’s adjustable suspension front and back, Adjustable swingarm, steering head, and engine positioning as well as my favorite brakes, the Brembo monoblocs, fitted to the RC8R as well. There are also carbon fibre fenders and a host of electronics helping to tame the 180HP motor.
Ridden: Suzuki GSX-R 750

When I collected the GSX-R 750 from Suzuki I promised I wouldn’t rack up too much mileage on this brand new model, however I must admit it has been extremely hard for me to keep my grubby hands off of this superb bike.
I climbed aboard the 750, engaged the clutch, kicked up the stand, flicked on the ignition switch and the excellent instrument display fired up in an array of colours. I hit the start button and the 4 cylinder 16 valve 750cc motor hummed into life.
As I let the motor warm, I engaged mode C from the thumb operated mode switch on my right and proceeded into the streets of the city, where I soon decided that mode C had to be replaced with mode B. This changes the fuel mapping and gives you more power.

If you are 16 and you are looking for a stylish yet sporty first bike, Yamaha might have the solution, It’s the YZF-R15. No the name doesn’t imply it’s a 1500cc because that would be a bit dangerous for a first bike, but in fact it’s a 150cc single cylinder. This free revving motor has been built from the foundries that produced the almighty R1 and R6 and this can be seen in its DNA.
As we should all know, 2009 was a good year to be a Yamaha fan, they won all major championships from SBK to Motocross as well as MotoGP and now you can also have a Valentino Rossi replica Yamaha from 2009, albeit a slightly detuned version.
